What Are the Benefits of Astro Headsets?

It’s difficult to match the Astro lines’ abilities in competitive play, and the A40 lineup is no exception. As a result, Astro headsets are, in my view, well worth the money.

ASTRO is one of the most well-known gaming headset manufacturers, and their products are some of the best on the market. ASTRO has a range of choices for all, from high-quality luxury items to inexpensive gaming headsets for casual gamers.

  2. Astro A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro
  3. Astro A10 Headset:
  4. Astro A30 Headset
  5. Astro A20 Gen 2 Wireless Headset
  6. Astro A20 Wireless Headset
  7. Astro headset a10

Astro Headset A50 Gen 4:

1. Astro Headset A50 Gen 4:

Type Over-ear|Enclosure Closed-Back|Wireless Yes|Noise Cancelling No|Mic Yes

The Astro Headset A50 Gen 4 is similar to the previous-generation Astro A50 Gen 3 Wireless 2017, but with minor changes such as a smaller base station and better battery life.

They can only be used wirelessly with a base station that has low latency. They have a good microphone, but they won’t be the best choice if you’re playing in a noisy or crowded atmosphere because they don’t isolate well from ambient noise.

The Astro headset A50 Gen 4 has a lot going for it, with its comfortable build, bulletproof wireless networking, long battery life, and highly customizable audio. The price is big, and you’ll need two if you play on both PlayStation and Xbox, but it’s hard to overlook as a good all-arounder.

Design: The ear cushions are as comfortable as they are big, enveloping your ears without placing too much pressure on them directly. The headband is also very soft and comfortable to wear, even during extended gaming sessions.

Our Verdict:

These headphones are designed for gaming but can also be used for watching TV or listening to music due to their well-balanced sound profile and low-latency base station.

They have a good frequency response and a well-balanced sound profile. Their bass is punchy and extended, with a well-balanced and precise mid and treble range. Their companion app includes a visual EQ for fine-tuning the listening experience.

The Astro headset A50 is ineffective for commuting and travel, despite the fact that it was not built for this purpose.

The Astro A50 is mediocre for sports and fitness. They need the base station to operate, so you won’t be able to take them for a run or to the gym with you.

Their battery life can last you the entire workday, but due to their low isolation performance, they won’t be ideal if you work in a crowded office.

PROS:

  • Comfortable fit.
  •  Companion software features many configuration options.
  • Sturdy construction.
  • Good audio quality
  • Convenient charging dock
  • Lots of audio customization

CONS:

  • Bulky design.
  • The headphones cannot work without the base station.
  • Terrible isolation performance.
  • Expensive
  • Separate versions for Xbox/PlayStation

Features:

  • Tuned with ASTRO Audio V2
  • Dolby Audio
  • Game: Voice Balance
  • USB Sound Card Functionality
  • ASTRO Command Center Software
  • Mod Kit Ready (Gen 4)
  • Rechargeable Lithium-ion Battery
  • Built-In MixAmp
  • Flip-to-Mute Microphone

Is Astro A50 work with PS4 and Xbox?

The Astro A50 is commonly considered to be the best Xbox and PC headset available. This headset is ideal for prosumers and serious gamers alike, with its superior simplicity, robust app ecosystem, dual-sound mixing, and one of the few remaining SPDIF optical alternatives on the market.

How can you charge the new A50 while gaming?

You can charge via the USB charge port located on the side of the Base Station.

How you can update Astro A50 Gen 4?

  • Activate PC Mode on your base station.
  • Download the Astro Command Center app from the Windows Store, or from the Astro gaming website link in the summary if you’re on a Mac.
  • If your firmware needs to be updated, the app will automatically prompt you to do so.

Astro A40 vs A50 – What is better?

  • The A50 is a wireless-only device, while the A40 is a wired-only device with an open-back interface.
  • The A50 has a well-balanced sound signature, but its soundstage isn’t as expansive as the open-back A40.
  • The A40 is a better choice if you don’t want to be constrained by battery life.

Astro Headset A40 TR + MixAmp Pro:

2. Astro Headset A40 TR + MixAmp Pro:

Type Over-ear|Enclosure Open-Back|Wireless No|Noise Cancelling No|Mic Yes

The Astro Headset A40 TR + MixAmp Pro 2019 is a high-quality gaming headset with a fantastic microphone. These headphones have the same comfortable and durable construction as the previous-generation Astro A40 TR Headset + MixAmp Pro 2017, with a warm sound profile that can be changed in the companion app.

Our Verdict:

They come with accompanying applications that include a graphic EQ so you can tailor the sound to your preferences.

They come with software that includes a graphic EQ and presets, allowing you to tweak the sound if you don’t like it out of the box, so the Astro A40 headset is good for neutral sound.

They’re easy to wear, but they’re bulky and don’t fold into a more compact form, making them unsuitable for commuting and travel.

Because of its open-back configuration, the Astro A40 headset is subpar for sports and fitness use and disappointing for office use.

Their microphone has excellent recording quality and can easily distinguish the voice from ambient noise. The MixAmp also has useful controls, such as the ability to change the levels of the game and chat audio and choose from a variety of EQ presets.

The Astro A40 headset is adequate for phone calls, but you might not be able to hear whoever you’re speaking with if you’re talking on the phone in a noisy environment. They also lack call handling capabilities.

PROS:

  • Comfortable and sturdy design.
  • Great microphone performance.
  • Companion software with graphic EQ and presets.
  • Open, spacious passive soundstage.
  • MixAmp is a program that allows you to combine game and chat audio.
  • ASTRO Audio V2 technology in a premium high-quality gaming headset.
  • Swappable uni-directional mic
  • Customizable speaker tag
  • Premium ASTRO headset customized for PlayStation consoles.
  • Works with PC as well
  • ASTRO Command Center software is included to fine-tune each input/output.
  • Dolby Surround Sound compatibility.

CONS:

  • Bulky design.
  • Poor noise isolation, by design.
  • No phone call management controls.

Astro Headset A10:

3. Astro Headset A10:

Type Over-ear|Enclosure Closed-Back|Wireless No|Noise Cancelling No|Mic Yes

The Astro headset A10 is simple wired-only gaming headphones with a boom microphone that makes it easy to connect with your teammates even in a noisy environment.

The Astro A10 wired 3.5mm headset is the most affordable headset Astro currently provides, and it works with any computer that has a regular 3.5mm audio jack.

The A10 is the headset for you if you need a good wired alternative and are a fan of the Astro brand. This wired headset has superior rivals on the market, with decent audio and design.

It also includes an omnidirectional microphone with flip-up mute and in-line volume control for clear communication.

Our Verdict:

These bulky headphones have a gaming-oriented design, and you can’t take out the boom microphone for a more casual look. However, the microphone’s excellent recording quality makes them suitable for phone calls.

There are no sound customization options, and the sound profile is inconsistent, with an extra focus in the bass range that adds boom and punch to your audio.

The Astro Gaming A10 isn’t great for commutes and travel, but it’s comfortable enough, and its passive nature means you won’t have to worry about battery life during long days on the road.

These chunky over-ears are stable enough to sit on your ears during casual gaming sessions, but they’re not made to be worn to the gym.

The Astro Gaming A10 is unsuitable for workplace use because it does not isolate from disruptive background noises such as nearby coworker chatter.

The Astro Gaming A10 is adequate for wired gaming, with a boom mic that makes communication with teammates easy, and they’re comfortable enough for long gaming sessions.

Their boom microphone has outstanding recording quality, so even if you’re calling from a noisy setting, your voice can be heard clearly.

PROS:

  • Amazing microphone recording quality.
  • Well-built and decently comfortable.
  • Consistent audio delivery.
  • Decent construction
  • Solid audio
  • Compatible with Xbox, PC, and PlayStation, this gaming headset is a great value for money.
  • Built-in Microphone and excellent sound quality
  • Memory foam for great comfort

CONS:

  • Awful noise isolation.
  • Not stable enough for exercise.
  • Bulky design.
  • No sound customization features.
  • Arguably better options at this price point

Astro Headset A30:

4. Astro Headset A30:

The Astro headset A30s are the highest-quality headsets available, and when paired with the MixAmp, they become the most versatile. Though not the cheapest combination, these devices are for the serious gamer who wants something that will last a long time.

Design: The A30’s construction is expertly built to feel like one solid piece, even though the headband can be extended and the earcups rotated inward for resting around a user’s neck.

PROS:

  • Extremely Good Build Quality
  • Comfortable, even in long sessions
  • Different cables for different devices
  • MixAmp provides options for numerous devices
  • Excellent Sound Quality

CONS:

  • It May be too expensive for some
  • Lots and lots of cables
  • I think the breakaway cables should be a little longer.

Astro Headset A20 Gen 2 Wireless:

5. Astro Headset A20 Gen 2 Wireless:

Type Over-ear|Enclosure Closed-Back|Wireless Yes|Noise Cancelling No|Mic Yes

The Astro A20 Gen 2 Wireless headset is the next version of the Astro A20 Wireless headset. They have a sound profile that is relatively well-balanced, low wireless audio latency with compatible devices, and enough battery life for long gaming marathons.

Our Verdict:

They have a fairly flexible sound profile and a solid build quality.

They have a slightly V-shaped sound profile that is still well-balanced overall, and three onboard EQ presets to customize your listening experience.

They’re reasonably comfortable and should last a long time, but they’re not Bluetooth-compatible, and you’ll need an adapter to attach their USB dongle to your phone.

They’re reasonably comfortable and have low wireless latency, so you shouldn’t miss any important audio cues or lines of dialogue.

For making phone calls, the Astro A20 Gen 2 is unremarkable. Since they let in a lot of background noise, it’s possible that you’ll have trouble hearing what’s being said on a call.

PROS:

  • Good build quality.
  • Long battery life.
  • Decently comfortable, stable fit.
  • Consistent audio delivery.
  • Decent microphone noise handling capability.

CONS:

  • Bulky design.
  • Terrible noise isolation capability.
  • Lack of Bluetooth compatibility.
  • No physical playback controls.
  • Mediocre microphone recording quality.

Astro Headset A20 Wireless:

6. Astro Headset A20 Wireless:

Type Over-ear|Enclosure Closed-Back|Wireless Yes|Noise Cancelling No|Mic Yes

The Astro headset A20 Wireless are good wireless gaming headphones. They’re simple to use and have long battery life. They’re also pretty comfortable, though the headband can be a little tight.

Our Verdict:

The Astro headset A20 are specialized gaming headphones – need to be in the range of their wireless USB transmitter to work, this gives them a fairly low latency for gaming or watching movies.

Their default sound signature is brash and vivid, with a lot of punch. With their companion app, you can EQ the way they look, and they have a dedicated equalizer button so you can switch between different preset options on the fly.

They’re also restricted by their wireless USB transmitter, so they’re best used with a laptop on a long bus or plane ride.

They have a reasonably comfortable fit, so jogging on the treadmill within range of their base station should be possible.

For office use, the Astro A20 is insufficient. Although you can set them up wirelessly with your PC, they don’t block much noise, so you’ll probably hear the majority of what goes on in the office.

They have a decent microphone that sounds clear even in noisy environments, a long 14-hour battery life with power-saving features, and the Astro Command Center allows them to be customized. They’re a little close to the ears and sound a little sharp right out of the box.

For phone calls, the Astro A20 is adequate. You can’t use them for your mobile devices because they don’t support Bluetooth.

PROS:

  • Sturdy build quality.
  • Good microphone noise handling.

CONS:

  • Poor noise isolation.
  • Slightly tight fit.

Astro Headset A10:

For about $60, the Astro A10 is an amazing budget gaming headset with solid audio and a sleek appearance.
The A10 delivers excellent value for money, with a sleek appearance, good audio, and a dependable microphone. However, it can become a little tight at times, and it faces stiff competition from cozier, even more, inexpensive headsets.

The A10 is a comfortable headset, but it’s also the first Astro headset I’ve had to take off. While I like the headset’s lightweight, 12-ounce frame and dense memory foam ear cushions, the ear cups were too narrow for my large ears.
